Silly Sara

Sara climbed up onto the front room table and pulled out all of my old pictures and sat there throughout family home evening looking through them, up on the table where technically she isn't supposed to climb. She is so funny with her looks lately, whenever she thinks I'm taking too many photos, this is the glare I get...Nikolai caught the same head cold that MaryKate and I have been struggling with but unlike us, he also has to struggle with asthma. That night was particularly bad and he and I were up every couple of hours for another breathing treatment. Finally around 2 am we kicked it and he got a couple of hours of good, cough free, sleep before getting up to go to school. Before bed Sara curled up with him while he was doing his treatment. This picture reminds me so much of pictures we have when MaryKate was about the same size of Sara with her and Nikolai doing a breathing treatment.
I was going to put her to bed as soon as she finished her bottle but she was much tireder then I realized and fell asleep BEFORE finishing it! I turned my back for a minute and this is what I discovered...

Field Festival

Amy asked us to come to her schools festival this year. She was in charge of so much of it, she spent the whole evening running from here to there. It was a great success as far as we could tell. We all had a blast.

Nikolai and MaryKate enjoyed the rock wall and different bouncers
All three of the kids got their face painted and loved when they discovered that their cousins Colin, Chesley, and Emma were the models on the demonstration page. (By the way, that day in school was wacky hair day. Nikolai's hair actually looked like that on purpose unlike every other day when he just doesn't do it :)!)
Sara fell asleep half way through and took a good nap even with a glowing necklace and all of the commotion around her.
The kids loved all the junk food they had access to. This was MaryKate's second round of cotton candy. (Notice her puffy right eye? She had a string of clumsy luck that day and walked into a tree. It scratched the whole side of her face, including her eyelid. That same day she slipped and fell down twice, scrapping her arm/elbow, and dirtying up her jeans. She also ran into a wall or two I think. For her sake, I sure hope she is growing!) Thanks Amy for the invite! We really had a lot of fun!!!

16 weeks along

Kevin went and bought me some new maternity shirts and a couple of skirts for church. This shirt is my new favorite. My baby is getting bigger every day and I can feel it moving consistently. The other day he had hiccups for about three hours in the evening. It was very cute.

I was right, the nurse was wrong...

I finally got the chance to remeasure Sara at home and I was right. Sara is NOT 32 inches tall, she is only 30... how a glaringly huge mistake of 2 inches happened I cannot say but nevertheless she is only in the 50%, like I thought, for height. I guess a mother does know best even when told differently from the doctors office.

Sara's 15 month check up

Sara had to get shots yesterday :(. It was very pathetically sad. She got to be weighed in though! and at 20 lbs 12 oz she is in the 20% for weight. At 32 inches tall she is in the 90% for height. I never would have thought her to be in the tall range, I actually triple checked that number because I didn't believe it, I still don't believe that she grew 2 1/2 inches in the last 3 months and jumped 30% in height so I am going to remeasure her myself here at home and only then will I be satisfied. The cool thing about this week, I think, is that while Sara just turned 15 months this week I turned 15 weeks pregnant! Exciting!!!

Easter Baskets

We didn't have much time before church for Easter baskets but just enough for some wild hair pictures (check out Sara's do and her cheeks full of candy)
MaryKate is always pretty, even when first waking up! Check out the bandage on her toe, I have a matching one on my right big toe, we both decided to lose our toenails at the same time... OUCH!
Nikolai reminds me a lot of Karl in the fact that it is rather difficult to get a good photo of him with his eyes open. In today's use of digital cameras I usually make him redo it but didn't notice until I was downloading the pictures this time. Oh well...

New Easter clothes

Our lovely children in their new Easter garb...

Sweet MaryKate with the new rabbit (named Chocolate of course) that the Easter Bunny brought her.
Nikolai with the coolest hair ever waving for the camera.
Sara wasn't complying with picture taking and we got several that looked like this...
But was pretty as a flower as soon as we let her have her own way.MaryKate is taller then Nikolai and having heels on also and the fact that he is slightly behind her makes it seem much more so. You have to admit they are a good looking bunch of monkeys.

Easter Dinner

We invited Kevin's Mom, sister Sharon, and Haleigh, Nick, and Haydan over for Easter dinner. It was a fun afternoon complete with games on the Wii Fit and laughing at old family stories. Here is Grandma Anderson and Sharon talking while watching over Sara.
Sisters, Haleigh in Grandma's glasses and Sara in Waldo's. We were laughing so hard. Sara did keep them on for a minute but by the time I got the camera out she was trying to get them off.
Grandma Anderson brought Sara this cuddly bunny for Easter. She was so cute laying there watching a movie that I tried to get a picture of her. She got mad at me for stepping in front of the T.V. so all I got were these scowls! I love it!

Sara finally complied and let me get a smiling picture of her cuddling her new bunny.

Easter Egg Hunt

Nikolai and MaryKate searched high and low for the hard eggs to find, leaving all of the easy ones on the ground for the babies to find.
Aunt Sara and Nephew Haydan picking up eggs together out of the same cache'.
Nick, Haydan and Haleigh after the hunt... what a cute little family! Sara taking a break to eat some candy (check out how stuffed her cheeks are!) She has discovered the wonders of candy filled eggs and every time she sees one, even up high, she'll bring it to you and clap her hands... her way of asking for it to be opened for her.
MaryKate showing off her loot.
And sweet Nikolai with his camouflage basket and his loot.

Sara's tooth

I was trying to get a picture of Sara's tooth. She was acting so cute I never got a good picture of it but I got some adorable ones of her being her usual happy self. Look closely in some of the pictures you can almost see it!

Blue Noses

Sara managed to color her own nose with blue chalk. MaryKate thought it was so funny she had to give it a try as well.
The girls and I played out in the front yard while Nikolai was at cub scouts. Sara discovered a trick that makes my heart stop beating. She sits up on the side of the kids toy Hummer like this then periodically falls partially off while grabbing on and saying "Wooooo!"
While Sara was entertaining me with her dare deviling MaryKate was practicing scooter tricks on the driveway. I kept expecting one or both of them to somehow get hurt but they both managed to escape unscathed.
So, with Sara getting her first tooth, we have moved into a new fun daily ritual... Brushing of that Tooth! We can't even say "Sara needs to brush her teeth" it is still "Sara needs her TOOTH brushed". But, as usual, she loves to do anything her big brother and sister are doing so it has not been a struggle at all to make sure her pearly white stays nice and healthy.
This was the first time EVER that Sara used a spoon consistently throughout a meal. She ate almost the entire carton of yogurt using a spoon. Granted, she spilt half all over her and hit a half of what was rest on her face instead of IN her mouth but I swear it is the attempt that counts!
I gave Sara two little chocolate candies for desert after dinner one day. Two LITTLE pieces and this is how messy she managed to get. The funny thing is that she didn't even finish off the candy, she only ate about half of each. What is being a baby if you can't get ridiculously messy?
